Marketing that compounds: a story worth telling, told every week, everywhere your customers already are.

Here’s what I believe about marketing, and it’s unfashionable: the tactics don’t matter until the story is right. You can run the perfect ad campaign for a message nobody cares about and all you’ll get is a perfect record of money leaving the building. Get the story right — who you are, who it’s for, why it matters — and suddenly every channel works harder.

I run marketing the way I run everything else: straight talk, no agency theater. The deliverable isn’t a 60-slide deck. It’s a content engine — blog, social, email — that ships on a rhythm your team can sustain, telling a story that’s actually true about your business.

Proof of concept: you’re looking at it. This site, the daily blog, the Shark Bite Biz podcast with hundreds of episodes — it’s all the engine, running. I don’t sell theory. I sell the machine I operate every day.

Does this sound familiar?

Nobody knows you exist. You do great work, your customers love you, and your pipeline is 90% referrals because the market has no idea you’re there. Invisibility is a tax on every deal — you start every conversation from zero. I fix it with the unglamorous combo that actually works: a sharp story, told consistently, in the places your buyers already research vendors.

Your marketing is random acts of posting. A burst of enthusiasm in January, three LinkedIn posts, then silence until someone panics in June. Random effort doesn’t compound; a rhythm does. I build the content engine — topics, cadence, formats matched to your actual capacity — so the business ships marketing every week without heroic effort.

Your website undersells the business. Prospects visit, get confused about what you actually do, and move on to the competitor whose site made it obvious. Your best customers found you despite the website. I rewrite the story in words humans use — positioning first, then the pages — so the site starts selling instead of apologizing.

An agency burned you. Pretty decks, impressive jargon, a fat retainer — and nothing you could point to in the pipeline. Agencies sell campaigns; I build the foundation campaigns need: who you are, what you say, and a publishing rhythm that doesn’t die the month the contract ends. No theater, no 60-slide deliverables, no retainer for vibes.

Your social channels are ghost towns. Profiles exist, nothing moves, and the last post is old enough to vote. Dead channels are worse than no channels — they signal a dead company. I set up channel playbooks with distinct voices per platform and a sustainable rhythm, so every channel tells the same true story without you living on your phone.

What I build

Positioning and messaging. The foundation. One sharp sentence about who you are, for whom, and why it matters — then the homepage, about page, and sales language rewritten around it. If your current site could belong to any of your competitors with a logo swap, this is where we start. (Full brand revival work lives under Dead Brand Stuff.)

The content engine. A weekly publishing rhythm across blog and social, built around the work you’re already doing — customer wins, lessons learned, opinions you actually hold. No “thought leadership” homework assignments. The engine runs on your expertise, systematized.

Social that sounds like you. LinkedIn for the B2B credibility, X for the personality, Instagram for the human side — each channel with its own voice, all telling the same true story. I’ve built audiences on all three. I know what compounds and what’s just noise.

Email that gets opened. Your list is the only audience you own. We build the capture, the nurture sequence, and the regular send — written like a human, not a funnel.

What’s included

  • Messaging audit: what you say now vs. what customers actually hear
  • Positioning and core messaging rewrite
  • Content engine design: topics, cadence, and formats matched to your capacity
  • Channel playbooks: LinkedIn, X, Instagram, email — what goes where and why
  • Editorial calendar for the first 90 days
  • Measurement that matters: what to track, what to ignore

Who it’s for

SMBs with something real to say and no system for saying it. If your marketing is currently “whoever has time posts something,” if your website undersells the business, if you’re invisible in the places your customers research vendors — that’s the profile. Works best paired with Sales Expert when the pipeline needs feeding, and with Small Business Growth when the whole machine needs tuning.

FAQ

Do you run ads?

I’m not an ads manager, and I won’t pretend to be. Paid can amplify a working story, but it can’t fix a broken one. We build the organic engine first — the story, the content rhythm, the list. If paid makes sense after that, I’ll tell you exactly what to ask an ads specialist for.

How much of my time will this take?

Less than you fear. The engine is designed around extracting your expertise efficiently — short interviews, voice notes, rough thoughts — and systematizing the rest. You bring the brain; the engine does the labor. That’s the whole point.

What if we’ve tried content before and it went nowhere?

It went nowhere because there was no engine — just sporadic effort with no story behind it and no distribution plan. Random posts don’t compound. A rhythm does. That’s the difference between what you tried and what I build.

Can you just do it all for us?

To a point, yes — the engine can run with minimal input from you once it’s built. But the best content comes from your real experience, so the highest-performing setups keep you in the loop for the raw material. Done-for-you with your voice, not instead of it.

How do we know if the marketing is actually working?

We agree on the handful of numbers that matter before we start — usually pipeline sourced, not vanity metrics. Likes don’t pay invoices. I set up measurement around what predicts revenue: content-to-conversation rate, list growth and engagement, and sourced pipeline by channel. You’ll get a simple dashboard, not a 40-tab spreadsheet, and we review what the numbers are actually saying every month.

Your story deserves better than silence.

Thirty minutes. I’ll tell you exactly what your marketing is missing.
